Things We Have Made

As well as offering our thoughts, ideas and expertise to the students that visit us here in the Wood Workshop, when we get the chance we also like to make our own lovely things. Wether it be experimenting with materials to feed back to our students and colleagues, creating pieces of our own work for exhibitions or helping other artists and designers to realise their own work. Below are a few examples of the things that we do. Keep a look out for this new page, found in our pages column, changing regularly as we add new work.

Phil likes nothing more than to experiment with materials and push their boundaries and uses. Although most of his work is large scale complex forms, he also loves working in fine detail.

Weng seen here putting the finishing touches to a small storage box, is something of a dark horse. Every so often he reveals some of his lovely work to us like his piece"Rock and Roll" below, which are kept in a secret hide out or garage as Weng likes to call it. We are hoping he puts on a show of his work soon for all to see

Stef loves nothing more than whittling away all things that are small. He recently made this very nice little 'O for Orla" and has also made jewellery including the bangles you can see here made from a combination of Oak and Black MDF.

There is not much that fazes John and certainly not when it comes to the Wood Lathe. We along with the students just love the array of examples of Wood Turning that we have on display produced from his very skilled hands.
