BA Summer Term Starts

So this week saw the start of the BA term and lots of students chomping at the bit to get back into the workshop. It's going to be a short term with around six weeks left to get all work completed for the degree show. Mixed into that we have MA interim shows coming up and first year Interior Design working on a big project. It's going to be fun! Below are some images taken form the past few days.

Gwen, from Graduate Diploma Interior Design, makes some 1/5 scale models of her modular stool design

Sunny Days!

Well the weather has certainly helped during this start to the new term and the many sunny days serve only to remind us that the Summer term is here. This therefore means the final term for many of our undergraduate students. We can only imagine that the next 6 weeks or so, with us in the Wood workshop will be a blur of frenzied energy as the students create their final work. Below are some images taken from the past few days.

Fine Art student Saskia continues to make steady progress carving her piece of Jelutong. This could take a while!

Andrew puts the finishing touches to his shelves to display some small art works.

Victoria, from MA Interior Design, continues to add details to her architectural model, to great effect.

MA ISD student Helen constructs a small detail inspired by an eco build recycling old wood

Ping Pong!

St Andrews, Wembley, Lord's, Silverstone. Wonderful sporting arenas and to that list we can now add the Wood Workshop here at Chelsea college. Last night we played host to the inaugural Table Tennis tournament organized by the Graduate school. With some twenty or so athletes taking part in mixed doubles, the competition was fierce with the freshly created trophy awaiting the winners. Well done to all that played and we hope to host another event soon.

Cleared of any student work our benches certainly made for great match tables.

Francis put in a lot of training for this event and his choice of outfit merely served to maximize his physical attributes.
Phil put on some shorts as well.

The fabulous trophy went to the well deserved winners, Paul and Isabelle narrowly pipping our own Stef and his team mate Annick in a close fought final.
