So we find ourselves in the last week of term and there has been a frantic rush to try and get work progressing or finished before the Easter break. Once again lots of interesting things are being produced ad below are a few examples of these.
Here we see another large scale polystyrene form taking shape and pretty much taking over the machine shop!
Misbah from Fine Art still going for it with the carving chisels.
Saskia begins to glue and clamp her blocks of Jelutong ready for carving in the coming weeks.

The Easter Run In.
Another week rolls on and once again it's been a productive one. It never ceases to amaze us at just how much diversity of thought and making we see and that only helps to make our workshop here at Chelsea, an interesting and enjoyable place to work. Long may that continue. Below are some images taken from the past few days.
Very nice detailed architectural model being put together here combining casting and wood working skills.
Plinths being readied for a Fine Art show coming up.
Victoria from MA Interior Design piecing together her model.
BA Fine Arts Misbah working hard on her carving skills and to great effect.
Glueing up for a project for this Fine Art project.
Another chair but this time it's an MA Interior Design project
Putting this model together and a few simple steps.
The half modelled roof allows us to get a look inside.

Spring Time
So with a warmth in the air and the evenings getting lighter it seems that spring is upon us. This change seems to have spurred on the students and it's been a frantic time in the Wood workshop here at Chelsea with lots of diverse and interesting things being made. As we approach the last few weeks of term there are a few projects drawing to a close and some just beginning. Many will have one eye on the final term which is fast approaching. Below are some images taken from the past few days.
No better way to make a large cone than out of Styrofoam. Hot wire cutting allowed each layer to flow seamlessly into the next.
And the final piece is added.
FDA Interior Design furniture projects well on their way to being completed.
A home made wood steamer being constructed.
Flexi Ply being taken to it's limit here as the word 'vice' is formed ready to become a planter.
