Happy Easter

Well the Wood Workshop has been given a good old Spring clean over the last couple of days as we have reached the end of term for our students and we prepare for the vibrant Summer term ahead. That only leaves one thing and that is to wish you all a very happy Easter.

A Visit to the V&A

So the other day Stef and Phil enjoyed a visit to the V&A in search of some lovely things. Having pretty much got lost in there, its easily done, they eventually found themselves on the 6th floor and at the Dr Susan Weber Gallery. Here they found what they had been looking for. This new gallery, located alongside the Ceramics Study Galleries, presents the Museum’s outstanding collection of British and international furniture from the 15th century to the present day. It focuses on questions of form, function, and techniques of construction and decoration in the creation of furniture for over six hundred years. For more information follow the link and below are some images taken from the visit.

Its crazy in here, again!

Well its that time of year when the fair weather golfers out there, dust of their kit and start heading out to the greens. It seemed the right time then for the 1st students of BA Graphic Design to hit the Wood Workshop to make another 9 holes ( I think it might actually of been 11 ) to go with the 9 they made last year. Its proved a great success again with a great deal of energy and a real buzz about the place for a week. Below are some photos taken during their time with us and we are all looking forward to playing the holes at an event straight after Easter. Follow the link to see last years group as well. Nice one guys!!

The first of the holes gets under way

and rather appropriately its a 4. (golf joke there)
Its all about team work on this project.

Three groups work in our make up space begin to take shape.

We challenged them with some tight spaces. But that didn't put them off.

Starting to feel like Graphics are beginning to spread out.
Like I said. All about the team work.

Q done, dismantled and off for a lick of paint.

Wait a second, is that two more tables they have taken over?

Ahh yes. That will be the entire workshop they have moved into then!
But at least they all know how to smile. Oh and Nigel.

Ready for a bit of testing and then followed by the inevitable tweaking!
Solid!
