PG Dip. Interim Show

In its last year at Chelsea, the current crop of Fine Art Postgraduate Diploma students have assembled work for their Interim Show. Many of the students have spent time with us here in the Wood Workshop. Below are a few images taken from the exhibition housed in Chelsea's Triangle Gallery.

Hitting the ground running.

So Monday saw the beginning of the Summer term and what we are expecting to be an exciting and productive period in the build up to the degree show, towards the end of June. It was lovely to see our many students back after the Easter break with such creative energy. Here is a few of the things we have been making this past week.

Vignettes

We love to inspire our students anyway we can. We are constantly producing examples of made forms to show material and process. Both large and small we have gathered our smaller Vignettes, as we like to call them, together and have now displayed them for all to see. We believe in sharing information to enhance the sense of community within the Wood Workshop. We have a dedicated page for Vignettes. Click on its page on the right for individual images.

Last few days of term

So as the term draws to an end and Easter is upon us its time to squeeze in a few more projects, have a bit of a spring clean and prepare for the excitement of the Summer term. Included in the images below is the work of Adam De Boer who features in our Artist Profile page on the right. Happy Easter to you all!

Bad Type Crazy Golf Film

Following the fun of the making and then the playing of the Crazy Golf course, I have been sent this film capturing the mood of the project. Follow the link below to view.

The Valley in the Clouds

Students from BA ISD Platforms 8&10, have been working steadily towards this impressive build. Run by Luke Walker and Joy Flanagan, The Valley in the Clouds was an Ecobuild using 400 recycled copies of the Daily Mail and a supply of timber from Arnold Laver. Several of the students have worked with us in the Wood workshop for many months and the last few weeks have seen a flurry of activity as the final preparation for the build took place. Below are some images of the wooden structure being fabricated. Congratulations to all those involved.

We are good with wood and we needed to be. Around 200m of 4x3 Softwood was delivered to our workshop to be cut to size!
