The countdown to christmas

So as we hit the last two weeks of term the creativity and energy in the Wood Workshop here at Chelsea, shows no signs of letting up. The latest course to come and work with us have been students from the Graduate Diploma course in Interior Design. Working on a hotel project many of them have been making models and for most of them, for the first time. Below are some images taken from the past few days.

BA Fine Arts Eva creates a very interesting styrene form by heat moulding it.
Graphics students have been with us again making more letters.
Graduate Diploma Interior Design students take over small works as they get busy model making
The Vacuum former put to good use creating what will become a ceiling detail.
Every inch of the table being used here!
Several design solutions to put walls onto a base. Here we see slots...
and here we see locating rods into holes.
Nice use of two materials here and plenty of techniques as these bent acrylic pieces get placed within slots in this Fine Art  third year structure

22 days to go.

23 Days to go.

Advent Calendar.

During the festive period we will have our very own unique Wood Workshop countdown to Christmas. Follow us as we post up some obscure number images that we come across during our days, which will form our advent calendar.

It's time for a show or two

This past week has seen momentum building for todays display of work from students from Fine Art and Textiles. We have seen a great deal of them with us in the Wood Workshop over the past few days as they put the finishing touches to their work. With only two weeks left of this first term once again it's just flown by. Below are some images taken from the past few days.

Fine arts Finola adds the finishing touches to her structure
Phil, centre, helps out with this structure to hold a sculpture. Lots of activity on this day.
More of the Graphics students were with us and here we see them filling and sanding their letters.
 Some very nice results!
And another.
We have also had some Interior Design students working with some recycled furniture

The end result of some hard work on the Wood Lathe
Well that's not going to fit?
Well maybe!
 Little bit more...
 Nearly there….
Its through!
And off to squeeze through another door somewhere else
